When I'm on this blog, I'm a parent - not head of school! I'm curious what you other parents feel about homework. Sam brought some home yesterday and got so excited to have the chance to get ahead with his work. I'm tempted to encourage him to do this once a week. Life is so full, though, and I don't want it to become a negative thing. Thoughts?
Once a week feels about right. I really like the idea of it being something the individual student wants to do to get ahead.
Yes, I think it's a good idea! Crack the whip! Just kidding. Yes, it's a good idea...
Once a week sounds like a great idea, possibly on a night other than Tuesday? Maybe it is brought home on Monday and due the middle of the week or even Friday?
I agree about having homework once a week. That's perfect.
My preference would be not to have assigned homework. I think it is wonderful when the kids getting enthused about a topic at school and they are encouraged to further explore that topic at home (which happens a lot with Ellie and Chris). It seems most in line with Acton ideals to have this be student driven without the pressures of set "assignments" that have to be completed the next day. This may be similar to what others have said about their children wanting to get ahead with their work.
